Smells like Fish

Ugh. Thank Jebus that ugly Houston series is over. Maybe Lakers fans did want Portland after all. Imagine how much of total stud Andrew Bynum would look when you put him next to Greg Oden. Maybe next year. Looking forward to the Denver series, my primary concern with the Lakers centers around Derek Fisher and the PG match up. Don't get me wrong, I love me some D-Fish & Chips, but he just got schooled by the younger, quicker Aaron Brooks of Houston last round.

Fishing for Compliments - It's not us,
Derek Fisher, it's you. It's you.

Compare the starting PG scoring statistics for games in which Fisher played (All games except Game 3), and it's not even close.

Derek Fisher
/ Aaron Brooks

Gm 1: 8 pts vs. 19 pts
Gm 2: 12 pts vs. 13 pts
Gm 4: 2 pts vs. 34 pts
Gm 5: 2 pts vs. 14 pts
Gm 6: 2 pts vs. 26 pts
Gm 7: 6 pts vs. 13 pts

Anyone else see a problem? Fisher isn't scoring, and he's giving up way too many points on defense. Brooks' worse game was better than Fish's best, and that's just not kosher. This definitely won't cut it with Chauncey Billups coming into town. Billups is no baby face Brooks. He's big. 6-3 200lbs+ big, and ugly. He's going to put a body on Fisher and force the issue. He can drive to the basket or pull on a dime and hit the contested jumper. The Lakers sorely need Fisher to play solid defense (and hit the open three) in the Western Conference Finals if we're going to advance to the Finals to play Cleveland.
